First Edition
Hardcover. Small 8vo. Red cloth with black lettering, rules and pictorial stamping, pictorial dust jacket. 263pp. Frontispiece. Very good/very good. Faint binding edgewear; with few light spots to outer page edges; jacket a tad rubbed, else free of edge tears and quite sharp. Handsome first edition, with all appropriate points, of the first volume in the 10-volume "football theme "Gridiron Series" (1926-33). This volume only bears "D. Appleton and Company" on title page and copyright page, though "Grosset & Dunlap" appears on jacket -- and remainder of series all published under G & D. Rather uncommon thus.
