Spine tight, gilt titles, sunned. Endpapers lightly tanned, book plate on front paste down endpaper. Text block only slightly tanned, with frontispiece of Cowley with tissue guard. Short dedication and date in ink on a prelim. Very good for age. Scarce.

Abraham Cowley (1618 28 July 1667) was an English poet born in the City of London late in 1618. He was one of the leading English poets of the 17th century, with 14 printings of his Works published between 1668 and 1721. Recently re-bound in a brown cloth binding using the original crushed Morocco boards, with a contrasting label to the spine. Externally, very smart with just some minor shelfwear. Corners are slightly bumped. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with some scattered light foxing. There is a bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good. book.
