Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. HMSO published this First Edition set in 1973. The set comprises Volume 1 Text over 626 pages; and Volume 2 Plates, which has hundreds of photographic reproductions of the original portraits. Both volumes and their dust-jackets are in 'Fine' condition even though they are ex-Library. The slip case is sound and much of its surface is at least 'Very Good', but there is wear on the lower part of the spine (i.e. the part that faces the wall or the back of the shelf) and it is generally looks as though it has lived a bit. There is at least one library stamp in each volume - so they are ex-library and have been cleaned up with no other obvious traces of other labels. The books are bound with dark blue cloth with a design of Victoria's young profile on the front covers. The endpapes reproduce images of Victorian towns and life. The top edge of both books are gilt. The size of each book in inches is: 11.1 x 8.9.
