First published in 1944, this is a first edition, first impression in this new edition, published 1963. Some edge wear and slight chipping to top and bottom of jacket and spine, folds rubbed, corners slightly bruised, spine slightly rubbed and faded, not price clipped (6s), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy for its age. 288pp, illustrated. Grandmother was a famous actress so it's natural that the three Forbes children should be sent to a stage school. The book tells the story of the Forbes, Sorrel, Mark and Holly, their life at the school, their auditions, broadcasting and acting. Noel Streatfeild (1895-1986), was an English author of children's book, focussing mainly on ballet and the stage. Her first and most famous novel 'Ballet Shoes' was first published in 1936.

Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Mays, D.L. (illustrator). First Edition. There is a spine lean with slight corner bumping and a faint dent to the top edge of the front panel. Slight fading at the very base of the spine. The page edges have a little browning and there is slight browning to the endpapers. Gift message to a previous owner on the front free endpaper but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. The price-clipped jacket has a tear running up the right hand edge of the front panel to about two-thirds of the length. Chipping to the corners with some loss at the top of the spine. The spine is faded with some rubbing to the edges. A number of small tears to the edges and some brownng and discolouration to the rear panel. Colour frontispiece with same illustration as the jacket. These and the interior black and white illustrations are by D.L. Mays. First printing.
