Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Very Good, 8vo, 8 1/4" x 4 3/4." Brown paper wrappers in a beige paper folder. Color illustration with bedstead and black lettering on front panel of folder. Folder has four flaps on back with a red string closure. Covers pristine and intact, binding tight, sharp tips. Folder has a few spots of rubbing, several small wrinkles, and slight wear to extremities, else clean and intact. Pages pristine and intact. Replete with color illustrations. Unpaginated, c. 97 pp., including 47 full-page color plates. A charming facsimile reprint of Henry Lapp's trade catalog showcasing his wares, each of which were accompanied by a hand-drawn, hand-colored illustration by Lapp. Henry Lapp (1862-1904) was an American carpenter, cabinetmaker, and craftsman. Lapp was an expert furniture-maker and visual artist. It is thought he used visual art as a main form of communication because he was born deaf and partially mute. This facsimile replicates the handbook he carried, which he likely showed to prospective clients. The notebook is filled with examples of his furniture and other handmade wares for sale. 47 plates from Lapp's handbook are contained herein; some plates have more than one illustration. A sampling of the items illustrated in this facsimile are drawers, cabinets, a bedstead, benches, a cradle, trellises, puzzle blocks, sleighs, mouse traps, egg beaters, and a desk. Introduction and Notes by Beatrice B. Garvan. Published by the Philadelphia Museum in Association with Tincum Press. Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
