This copy has been rebound in green cloth, with new end pages, and letters in gilt on the spine. As is normal most of the pages have browned. There is a very interesting article "History of the Settlement of Swedes in North Dakota" (p. 247-308) by Myrtle Bemis. The last section is "Indians" and is only pages 685-727. Included is "A Boulder Outline on the Upper Missouri: by A. B. Stout; "The Story of Corn Silk, An Ancient Mandan Legend" by O. G. Libby; "Some Ojibway Legends" by Rev. J. A. Gilfillan; and "How the First White Man Came in America by Little Duck.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 353pp. Key articles in this volume are "Pioneer Experiences of Horatio H. Larned by Ethel A. Collins (pp 1-58). Larned enlisted with the Minnesota Volunteers at Anoka, Minnesota on September 23, 1862. He was 17 years old and he served under both General Pope and General Sibley in the Indian campaigns following the Sioux uprising in August 1862. It is a good article and fits well with anyone interested in the Sioux uprising. Other articles of interest are those that pertain to the history of the Norwegians in the Red River Valley by Axel Tollefson. There is also an article by Anton Hillesland "The Norwegian Lutheran Church in the Red River Valley. The Norwegian population played a key role in the development of North Dakota. Except for some light wear to the tips of the spine and the corners.
