Condition: Fair. 1947. First Edition. 269 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Green cloth boards with gilt lettering. Ex-library copy, with expected inserts and inscriptions. Clean pages with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pencil and ink stamp markings to front free endpaper and top edges textblock. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Gilt lettering is darkened. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Visible wear marks to boards.

Dust jacket is sunned on spine and outer edges, soiled on spine, dog-eared along top at spine with small (1/8") chips missing and a larger (1/4"x5/8") chip missing from bottom of dust jacket spine, bindings sunned on spine and slightly sunned on outer edges, discolored at bottom of spine, owner name, text block tight, bright and clean, appears gently read. Very good with a good dust jacket, protected by a mylar cover.

Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, few tears, a little loss (mainly to head/tail of spine and to corners), creasing/rubbing to edges, pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, few small marks, patchy browning (including to spine), the odd spot of foxing, pushing/bumping to corners, rubbing/few small tears to spine, a little creasing/rubbing to front/back inner flaps and is in only fair condition. Boards are near fine (having been well protected by the jacket) with minor pushing/bumping to corners, minor patchy browning and minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top of pages dyed light pink have the odd small mark/spot of foxing. Rough cut page edges (the odd page remains uncut). Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges and bottoms. Odd small mark/minor foxing inside boards and to end-papers. Very occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages. Pages little tanned.
