Illustrations including frontispiece by Christine Price. This title was originally published in 1958. The usual toning to the text block and a little spotting to the reverse of the covers but otherwise in much better condition than would be expected for age. A true story which follows the adventures of Geoffrey and Alys de Villacours, who in 1212 set out on a great crusade of children, bent on making their way to the Holy Land to free Jerusalem. The marching clolumn of children got as far as Marseilles on their own, but were then tricked onto the ships of unscupulous traders who sold them into slavery.

A bit of foxing on the edges and the preliminary pages, otherwise very good in very good dustjacket with a few tiny professionally restored chips and closed tears (none affecting lettering or illustration). Sterling price intact. "In A.D. 1212 a twelve-year-old shepherd boy, called Stephen, went to King Philip of France.to organise a crusade to rescue the holy city of Jerusalem.". A wonderful story woven out of this tragic but inspired Crusade, and handsomely illustred in b/w by Christine Price, who also provides a colour illustrated dustjacket. Reasonably uncommon in collectible condition.
