Beautiful catalog of bindings by the Lakeside Press, a company formed in 1921 with a standard of doing simply the best that could be done. From the foreword, this book was made to represent their progress up to this point, and includes good reference for binding terms and styles. Each plate has a piece of tissue paper in between to prevent spotting and ghosting onto the other page. Good+, ex-lib with bookplate and ID tags, some edge wear, piece missing from upper spine, top left corner missing from tipped-on title plate.

Book in fair condition. Edges and corners of boards a little rubbed and worn. Spine cover detached and only about three-quarters of it remain (loosely inserted in the book). The page with plates XXIII and XXIV has separated from the binding. Internally clean and unmarked save for the ghost of a signature to the front pastedown. Book.
