Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 4th Edition. Fourth printing, priced at 2/-, from March 1937, of a book originally published by Hodder in January 1935. This is a smaller format yellow jacket edition in red boards. There is slight rubbing to the corners but the boards are otherwise clean and unmarked. The page edges are slightly browned with some brown spotting to the fore edges and bottom edges. There is some dark spotting to the first and last few pages. The pages are a little browned and the spotting on the edges has bled onto the face of the pages in a number of places but they are generally otherwise unmarked. The jacket some chipping at the corners with a little loss at the top of the spine and to the top right corner of the rear panel - there is tape along the top and bottom edges of the reverse to reinforce it. There are a few small closed tears to the edges. There is a little edge chipping to the rear panel and brown spotting to the flaps.

This work is a first edition, in original publisher's cloth binding with the unclipped dust wrapper. The Bulldog Drummond collection was a series of novels featuring the character Hugh 'Bulldog' Drummond. They were originated by Herman Cyril McNeile, a British soldier and author who wrote under the pseudonym 'Sapper' due to the fact that serving officers in the British Army were not allowed to publish under their own name. Gerard Fairlie was an English writer and scriptwriter, on whom McNeile supposedly based Bulldog Drummond. After McNeiles death in 1937, Fairlie continued the Bulldog Drummond series. McNeile and Fairlie were working on this particular novel together, but McNeile died before it was finished. With an ink inscription to the front endpaper, of Mary Iviney. In original publisher's blue cloth binding with the unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart, with minor shelf wear and light rubbing to the cloth. Slight fading to the extremities, mainly to the spine, with the odd mark to boards. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Dust wrapper in good condition with chipping to the extremities and the odd closed tear. The occasional mark to the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. book.
