[8], 316, [4] (advertisements for the Woburn Library of Natural History's other publications) pp. Green cloth ruled in blind, lettered and decorated in gilt on the spine and front board, top edge gilt. Twelve coloured plates taken from photographs and drawings of the specimens discussed in the book, with three additional black-and-white illustrations. Maxwell was a fellow of the Royal Society, and former President of the Society of Antiquaries in Scotland. A lovely copy. A Near Fine book with a few flecks of foxing and two tiny bumps to the bottom corners of the boards, showing mild wear.
