Ex-library with all faults. Dust jacket now protected in mylar sleeve. Black Easter is a fantasy novel by American writer James Blish, in which an arms dealer hires a black magician to unleash all the demons of Hell on Earth for a single day. The novel initially depicts the assassination of a Governor of California (a fictionalized version of Ronald Reagan) by a black magician working as a contract killer. The same magician is then hired to release every demon in Hell for a brief time period. However, the demons can not actually return to Hell by the end of the novel. Their traditional opponent, God, has already died and nobody else can compell them to return to Hell. - Wiki.

Book First Edition
Black Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Binding sound and tight, name in biro on flyleaf and repeated on inside pastedown, no other markings and text clean and free of spotting, folds or such. Black cloth unfaded, corners crisp, no wear, bright gilt spine titling. The dust jacket is tight and tear-free, unclipped. The front panel and spine are covered in some kind of speckled glaze which has tinted the paper cream yellow on the front panel and darker on the spine panel. Its hard to tell if this is added by the publisher or later, anyway, quite unusual, and it's applied to the edge of the inner front flap but not the rear flap or flap top and bottom edges, so not something that happened while the dust jacket was on the book. Other than that, the speckling is uniform on the front panel and the rear panel is normal paper with a few marks near the spine hinge and some age darkening. 165pp + double blank rear flyleaf. Size: 12mo.
