This copy was sent to noted author and early member of the commandos Colonel Robert Henriques, the letters to him and a copy of his suggested review are included here. Includes 14*illustrations and 2*maps. 400pp. Though all here the DJ has suffered much loss and is barely together, the front fly is loose. Text-block is sound and th book is in very good condition other than dust-spotting to the fore page edges.

Board edges a bit worn and corners of same mildly bumped, boards themselves sunned with some minor staining, page edges browned, rear fep clipped top free corner, previous owner's name top of front pastedown and immediately below it is what appears to be a child's scribble; a fair to good copy. Rivett was a war correspondent as well as a prisoner of war on the Burma Siam Railway for 3 1/2 years. This was the first complete and accurate chronicle to tell of the experiences of the Australians at the hands of the Japanese in the prison camps.
