Hard Cover. Dust Jacket Condition: Dust Jacket. First Edition. First UK Edition. THE AUTHOR'S AGENT'S COPY. Publisher's red boards with gilt lettering to the spine. A small area of fading at the head of the spine (matching a chip in the D/W otherwise VG indeed. The D/W (priced 10/6 net to the inside flap is VG. There is a shallow chip at the head of the spine (removing the PLEBY of APPLEBY. The D/W is browned to the spine and there are some ink marks to the inside flap (probably caused by a letter laid into the book, now missing, as there is a faint indentation from a paper-clip at the top edge of the front free end-paper). There is a book-plate (from the Author's Agent A P Watt & Son, Hastings House, Norfolk Street, Strand, London W.C.2, to whom please address all communications about the M.S. to which this slip is attached. No M.S. is, however, attached to this copy. This book was originally sold by the late, great, legendary bookseller, Peter Jolliffe, who described it as the Author's Copy due to some small amendments to the Contents Page. However, looking at the hand-writing on the Contents Page I do not believe the hand-writing to be the Author's. Given, the book-plate from A P Watt a more appropriate description of this copy is to describe it as The Author's Agent's Copy. Photographs/scans available upon request.
