This work analyses hunting from 1845-6. It intended to educate those who were less versed in hunting. It is accompanied by illustrations by H. Alken. The articles within this work first appeared in the Bell's Life in London sporting paper printed weekly between 1824-1852. The chapters cover subjects including sporting months, etiquette and social roles. They give a sense of the challenged faced in the hunting season and what should be done to improve this. Includes 7 coloured plates showing tradition hunting scenes and 43 black and white illustrations reproduced from wood engraving by Henry Alken. These illustrations were created by Henry Alken who is best known as a caricaturist and illustrator of sporting subjects and coaching scenes. Collated complete. Bound in the original publishers binding. Externally very smart. Light rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Offsetting to the front pastedown. Pages bright and clean.
