About this Item: Morrow, New York, 1965. Hardcover. First Edition. Very Good in a Very Good dustjacket. Mustard-yellow boards quarterbound in green cloth. The spine is stamped in silver and gilt; the front panel in silver. Octavo. Green endpapers. [xv] + 206pps. There are modest touches of dustspotting to the cloth and to the page-edges. There is also a slight lean to the spine. Otherwise clean, bright, and soundly bound. The price-clipped dustjacket, glossy in a new mylar sleeve, has rubbing wear along the folds and shallow chipping at the tips and spine-ends. A nice copy of the author's second book. "Drawing upon the rich source of Celtic lore, Ann Moray has lyrically recreated eleven love stories from ancient Irish manuscripts and from fragments, tales and ballads found in Scotland, the Hebridean Isles, the Shetland Isles, Wales and Brittany. The fairy imagery and awareness in these time-honored tales has nothing of the 'twilight' quality so often, and erroneously, associated with Celtic literature. Rather, this Fairy Realm, or Otherworld is peopled by beings who know desire, who fight valiantly, honor friendship, have a deep sensibility to beauty in humans and nature, and who, although they are incapable of telling a lie, are not above using their powers to get their way with mortals. These people of the Fairy Mounds 'know neither old age nor death in the Land that rejoices the heart of everyone who wanders therein.' Under the skillful guidance of Ann Moray, it is a magical Land to discover and to return to for many hours of wonder and delight." Purchase with confidence: all books, gradings, and descriptions are rendered the care of a genuine bibliophile. Satisfaction guaranteed or all costs you've incurred will be promptly refunded.
