Condition: Fair. No Edition Remarks. 304 pages. Illustrated dust jacket over blue cloth with a black and white illustrated frontis. Moderate tanning to pages with heavier foxing and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Front endpaper is missing and heavy foxing and tanning to text block edges. Front hinge is cracked with exposed netting and cracks to guttering with exposed netting. Boards have visible rubbing and heavier bumping to corners. Fair crushing to spine ends and splitting to joints. Unclipped jacket with visible edge wear and splitting to joints. There is visible tearing to corners, edges and spine ends and tear to front. Visible rubbing to jacket and foxing to interior.

Good+ better than a reading copy. no dj. red boards show isolated tarnish marks and are rounded to corners, and ends of spine, without loss. spine is sunned. 1 neat inscription to ffep which is yellowed in part ( old page mark?) large prize plate dated 1901 to black endpapers, which are cracked at hinge level. all pages and plates present. top edge of textblock is darkened and all edges foxed. internally there is unsightly foxing to title oage and tissue-guard, decreasing through contents and first few pages. more than isolated foxing through text. A Romance of the Time of Louis XIV, King of France.

Condition: Fair. No Edition Remarks. 256 pages. No dust jacket. Illustrated paper covered boards with cloth to spine. Black and white illustrated and photographic plates. Book has a slight smoky odour. Minor staining, foxing and noticeable tanning to pages and plates. More prominent to text block edges, lighter to pastedowns and free endpapers. Moderate cracking and staining to gutters causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild chipping, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.
