Paperback. First Edition, unstated. First Edition, unstated. Very Near Fine in Wraps: shows only a crease at the upper front corner tip; mild rubbing to the wrapper covers and some very faint soiling - or perhaps foxing - to the white background field of the rear panel. The Binding is square and perfectly secure; the text is clean. Virtually 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 173pp. Primary Translation by Upasaka Kuo-jung (R.B.) Epstein. Edited by Upasika Kuo-chou Rounds. Certified by Bjikshuni Heng Yin. Trade Paperback. The Heart Sutra is one of the most famous Buddhist sutras. In a conversation between two of the Buddha's disciples, the essential aspects of the Perfection of Wisdom texts are conveyed. Freedom from suffering is linked to the sudden realization that everything exists because of causes and conditions. The line-by-line commentaries by Hsuan Hua are very helpful towards understanding sanskrit words- prajna, paramita, etc- and the principles of the text. Because the Heart Sutra is very short, it is excellent for beginning students. A wonderful and insightful commentary on this great mayahana classic.it certainly has helped me. I think the insight into the chan terms Hua gives us is priceless.
