No educational Policy could be formulated without first identifying the overall philosophy and goals of the Authority concerned. The study found that the policies were only longer in words but shorter in action; the motives behind their implementation were partially achieved, because throughout the colonial period there was neither a concrete evidence of the acceptance of Christianity among Katsina Schools_ Girls, nor single Mission school established and dedicated in the Emirate. Both the implemented policies and Girl-Child Education have generated a change in outlook with regards to the socio-cultural, religious and economic life of the first generation of educated Girls. The policies were also found somehow irrelevant and inappropriate to teaching learning processes. By 1903, Girl-Child Education was not the priority of the British colonial Authority and was as a result largely funded by Katsina Native Authority Treasury Department. 72 pp. Englisch.

One by one, gradually, as they developed their environment, while hunting and traveling between communities, they began to understand that the world was not quite what they thought it was. Turning over the pages of encyclopedias published by all countries in all languages, we meet the familiar names of great people: Aristotle, Plato, Eratosfen, Herodotus, Archimedes, Biruni, Ibn Sina, Euclid, Strabo, Hipparchus and others who played an exceptional role in the development of world science from antiquity to the early Middle Ages. Today astronomy is practised because it represents an essential part of natural science. Scientific curiosity forces us to study what happens in the world. Usually considered a grim failure in the history of science, which at that time was under the full power of religion. In Europe, it was the power of Christianity.Although Western Europe was connected to the Byzantine Empire, it borrowed much more from the Arabs than the Byzantines. The contrasts between Europeans and Arabs were deep fear and admiration, mixed with recognition of Arab superiority. By the end of the 11th century, at the time of the conquest of Toledo (1085), the final conquest of Sicily (1091) and the fall of Jerusalem (1099), fear was much weaker than white. Perhaps it was precisely this circumstance that allowed Europeans to focus on what they admired in Arab spiritual culture. Maybe they would have studied Arabic science even if they had not had these military successes, but the fact remains that it was in the 13th century that European scientists interested in science and philosophy realized how much they had to learn from the Arabs, and began to study the main Arabic works, as well as translate them into Latin. 72 pp. Englisch.

In some industries like paper mill constant speed of the motor is required at any loading condition. The main aim of our project is to run DC motor at constant speed irrespective of loading conditions. To achieve this, we are employing a Chopper fed DC motor. The motor can be run at any desired speed by changing the duty cycle of the chopper. The duty cycle of the chopper is controlled by the PWM technique. The microcontroller is employed for changing the width of PWM pulses and the corresponding motor speed is shown on LCD. In this project, we are using AT-Mega- 8L microcontroller and chopper in order to run DC motor at a fixed speed. In this paper, the speed control of dc motor has been investigated by the use of an ATmega8L microcontroller. The high-frequency PWM signal is driven by the chopper. The PWM duty cycle is equal to the motor terminal voltage. This work has high feasibility and accuracy according to the economic point of view. The main objective of this system is to achieve a constant speed of DC motor at any loading condition. 68 pp. Englisch.

Normal cells are constantly subject to signals that dictate whether the cell should divide, differentiate into another cell, or die. Cancer cells develop a degree of autonomy from these signals, resulting in uncontrolled growth and proliferation. If this proliferation is allowed to continue and spread, it can be fatal. In fact, almost 90% of cancer-related deaths are due to tumor spreading - a process called metastasis. The foundation of modern cancer biology rests on a simple principle - virtually all mammalian cells share similar molecular networks that control cell proliferation, differentiation, and cell death. A rise in plasma lipid and lipoprotein levels with disturbances in oxidation of triglycerides and cholesterol levels, particularly low-density lipoprotein favors atherosclerotic plaque formation predisposes psoriasis patients more for atherosclerosis compared to controls. The oxidative stress also contributes to inflammatory process leading to increased oxidant load, cell damage and lipid peroxidation of cell membranes. Thus, severe psoriasis appears to be an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease and major adverse cardiac outcomes such as myocardial infarction, stroke and cardiovascular mortality. Dithizone is found to be a standard and extensively used chromogenic reagent in estimating Mercury ions. In this work, p-methoxy aniline and p-nitroaniline were diazotized and reduced to obtain respective phenyl hydrazines. A gummy, polymer like substance was formed instead of p-nitrophenyl hydrazine. Hence, p-methoxy phenyl hydrazine and 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl isothiocyanate were coupled followed by oxidation with N-BromoSuccinimide to obtain compound which was confirmed using 1H NMR. A significantly higher prevalence of celiac disease is reported in patients with psoriasis compared to controls. An increased incidence of psoriasis in patients with celiac disease too has been noted. A gluten-rich diet, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and alcohol consumption have been implicated often for the severity of psoriasis in a significant number of patients. Long-standing improvement or total remission of psoriasis is reported after diagnosis and its treatment with a gluten-free diet in many patients with severe and/or refractory psoriasis. The concomitant celiac disease was mostly asymptomatic in them. Gluten-free diet is also suggested to improve psoriasis severity even in patients with IgA and/or IgG anti-gliadin antibodies alone without histological evidence of celiac disease. However, the significance of concurrent celiac disease (it also affects 1% of the general population) as a risk factor for the chronicity, severity and relapses in psoriasis needs a careful interpretation as frequency of celiac disease associated antibody positivity remains variable across studies. 56 pp. Englisch.

Moreover, it often relapses on discontinuation of therapy. The research is ongoing to develop newer, safer and innovative treatments for melasma that causes profound cosmetic disfigurement, psychological stress and social embarrassment. The use of tranexamic acid, orally, topically, intravenously, or transepidermally to treat melasma is a recent concept. It has been used orally, alone or as adjuvant, in doses varying between 250 mg/d and 2.25g/d for 6 weeks to 6 months with almost equal efficacy. The molecular structure, spectroscopic characteristics and the interactive modes have been deduced from UV-Vis and FT-IR spectra. The binding ratio of complexation has been determined to be 1:1 for acceptor with CZT. Benesi-Hildebrand method was applied to estimate the spectroscopic and physical data. The association constant (K), extinction coefficient (_max), ionization potential (IP), energy of the charge transfer complex (ECT), resonance energy (RN), dissociation energy (W) and standard Gibbs energy ( G0) have been computed. These false alarms can lead to an alert overload that causes a health care provider to miss important events that could be harmful or even life-threatening. As health care units become more dependent on monitoring devices for patient care purposes, the alarm fatigue issue has to be addressed as a major concern in order to prevent healthcare providers from undergoing alarm burden, as well as to increase patient safety. The main goal of this paper is to propose a solution for the alarm fatigue problem by using an automatic reasoning mechanism to decide how to notify members of the health care team. Our specific goals are: to reduce the number of notifications sent to caregivers; to detect false alarms based on alarm-context information. This paper describes: a model to support reasoning algorithms that decide how to notify caregivers in order to avoid alarm fatigue; an architecture for health systems that supports patient monitoring, reasoning and notification capabilities. 68 pp. Englisch.

The objectives of this study includes the view of oral health promoters(OHPs) on a salutogenic approach and its contribution to oral health promotion, its influence in policy and practice, and the concept of the sense of coherence (SOC) as framework in achieving good oral health. The rationale of this study is to understand how the principles of the Ottawa Charter can serve the integration of a salutogenic approach to an oral health promotion paradigm by using it as an alternative to accessing population contexts. The research incorporates a constructivist approach focusing on OHPs' understanding of oral diseases based on a salutogenic approach in the UK context. Qualitative enquiry was chosen and an analysis was conducted using a thematic approach. Snowballing strategy of purposive sampling was used for recruiting ten OHPs for this study. 88 pp. Englisch.
