Hardcover. Condition: Good. Fifth Edition. Published in 1763. VOLUME IV ONLY (out of five volumes). Includes Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. This is a very large, heavy folio, Hardcover. Bound in full leather. Covers bear blind-tooled ornamentation. Hubbed spine bears six raised bands. Title page is red and black. Includes "The Preface to the Four Evangelists and the Acts of The Apostles. Illustrated throughout with maps and plate engravings in black and white throughout, some of which are large fold-out illustrations. Dual columned. Unpaginated. New testament book name and chapter numbers are present along the headings. CONDITION: Overall G. Cover shows wear. Front board is almost detached, still attached at the last hub string at the spine. Unmarked except for a notation at the back at the bottom of a map in ink presumed from the period. Some light foxing throughout. Former owner's bookplate affixed to the front pastedown for Thomas Isaac Ball, (possibly the Thomas Isaac Ball who was Provost of Cathedral of The Isles and Collegiate Church of the Holy Spirit, Millport, Isle of Cumbrae from 1892 until his death on 3 August 1916. Ball was ordained in 1866 and served curacies and incumbencies in Edinburgh. He lived in a flat at 12 Hill Square in Edinburgh's South Side). Engravings are wonderful. A nice copy, especially for its age. As this copy is over 9 lbs. with shipping materials, an additional shipping charge will likely apply. Full refund if not satisfied.

He was owner and editor of,"The Irishman", published at 2 Pottinger's Entry Belfast, between 1819-1825. He had befriended Shelly and his wife on their visit to Ireland in 1812. Politically Liberal, and a supporter of Catholic Emancipation, his relationship with O'Connell was rocky.
