The hardcover books are cloth-bound, with a colored paper pastedown to the front board. Inside is a color frontispiece & 4 full-page color illustrations by Milo Winter (1888-1956) throughout the 352 pages of text. Smaller B&W illustrations open each chapter. This book is a FIRST EDITION, First Printing from 1936 in this format with the Winter illustrations (First, Thus). Condition is solidly Good: generally clean, binding secure, but slightly shaken. Pages off-white, noticeably tanned around all edges. Light soil/darkening to outside edges. Former owner's name & address in pen on verso of ffep; NO other writing/underlining/highlighting; NOT ex-lib. OTHER FLAWS: edges heavily worn, down to underlying boards. Very heavy fraying/rubbing at both ends of spine.
