So begins a series of letters addressed to God from an anonymous young artist in this new book from the bestselling author of The Artist's Way. Following in the tradition of Letters to a Young Poet and Conversations with God, this is Julia Cameron's most inspiring book to date. In the form of letters from the heart, Prayers from a Non-Believer probes questions central to the artist's journey-how can we preserve our creative selves in our busy modern lives? What is the meaning of art and how does it relate to spirituality? This book is a unique treasure from one of the great teachers of our time.

Andrew Harvey is an excellent writer who has delved into such disparate outposts of the spiritual life as Buddhism in Ladakh to transalations of the Sufi genius Jalal al-Din Rumi. In this book, which aspires to be a modern version of "The imitation of Christ", he offers an image of Jesus as THE mystic, the Alpha and Omega of existence. Harvey, who is a bit of a mystic himself, presents us with a mystical image of Christ. Harvey relates this mystical Christ to the sacred feminine. The final section of the book, The Direct Path to Christ is a series of meditations and "exercises", which themselves are worth the price of the book .Mr. Harvey believes that we need no intermediaries between us and God, and that Jesus shows us the Way. Mr. Harvey's possesses genuinely passionate love of Christ. The text is interspersed with lovely photographs by Eryk Hanut , which i found to enchance the pleasure of reading this book. Son of Man is not an easy read {Mr. Harvey is rarely superficial, facile, or 'light'}. This is a book is rather meant to be read and savored slowly, to draw deeply from this source. This book is quite beautiful, and would be important addition to any spiritual library. Son of Man is an important and wonder-filled book. Recommended. First Edition; First Printing indicated.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Minor shelf wear, remainder mark to the bottom edge. Text is clean. 'After decades of a futile war on drugs, [this book] makes public what many Americans discuss only in private: Drug use as it is described by politicians and propagandists is dramatically different from drug use as it is experienced by the silent majority of users: the decent, respectable people who, despite their politically incorrect choice of intoxicants, earn a living and meet their responsibilities. The contradiction between what the government says and what drug users know has become increasingly difficult to maintain in recent years. . . Writing in a lively and provocative style [the author] builds a compelling case for drug use as a legitimate and responsible choice made by respected people from all walks of life. [He] shows that excess is the exception among drug users, just as it is among drinkers, and refutes 'voodoo pharmacology' - the idea that drugs make people do evil.' 340 pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Book.
