Book First Edition
Wraps. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Offered is a first edition, first printing of "TRAGIC FOLLY - ATOM A.R.P.", an essay by Kathleen Lonsdale published in 1949 by the Peace Pledge Union out of London, England. The document measures 5-1/2" by 8-1/2" and contains four pages including front and rear covers. Dr. Lonsdale writes, in short part, "Is the world piling up a stock of atom-bombs for nothing? The fact is, that if war comes, these bombs will be used" - "It cannot be too clearly understood that in an atomic war mistakes cannot be remedied" - "The atom-bomb is a weapon of treachery; it could be planted in time of apparent peace in the hold of a ship as part of an innocent cargo and so detonated as to pin-point its target without warning." "Duplicate" stamp from Swarthmore College Peace Collection to front cover; sunning to front cover and light, general wear.
