Active from the 1940s until his death at the beginning of the millennium, the prolific writer won seven Hugo Awards and Three Nebula Awards over the course of his career, and was nominated for works included in this set such as The Enemy Stars, The Star Fox, and The Byworlder. Includes first paperback editions of The Byworlder, Orbit Unlimited, Mayday Orbit, The Star Fox, and We Claim These Stars. Includes the first four volumes in the Flandry series. The series reveals around protagonist Dominic Flandry, a dashing field agent of the Imperial Intelligence Corps who travels the stars to fight threats to the 31st century empire. The Star Fox has a price sticker to the front cover, as does Mayday Orbit, which is a reversible volume that also contains 'No Man's World' by Kenneth Bulmer. Mirkheim has a price sticker to the rear cover. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso of the front cover of Orbit Unlimited. Some very light wear to the head and tails of the spines, a little more so to the head of Byworlder, the head and tail of the Let the Spaceman Beware, and the tail of The Day of their Return. The Virgin Planet is a little worn at the joints. The front hinge of Orbit Unlimited is starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound, except for Orbit Unlimited where the binding is slightly tender. Pages are clean throughout, and vary from bright to moderately age-toned. Very Good. book.
