Hardcover in titled purple cloth with holographic embossed design depicting a whirling dancer, 64pp. Hamad Butt was a Lahore-born British artist who graduated from Goldsmiths College in 1990, but died in 1994. During his brief career he showed extraordinary promise, and this book posthumously collects diverse strands of his artistic practice which encompasses high voltage installations, industrial chemistry, alchemy and science. His work was shown at two major exhibitions - - Familiars (John Hansard Gallery, 1992) and Rites of Passage (Tate, 1995). Prior to his untimely death Butt had begun work on a publication about his work, which this lavish, fully illustrated publication draws upon. Rare.
