Hardcover. Condition: Used - Very Good. Saucy and ironic, Sam Durant's works address utopias and their failures, crossing events from the recent American past to create relationships between the art historical, pop cultural, and political phenomena that have come to define popular culture over the past 35 years. Conceptually conceived, multimedia in practice, Durant's installations refer to such guiding figures as Robert Smithson, Mick Jagger, Neil Young, and Black Panther cofounder Huey Newton. Hardcover. Condition: Used - Very Good. Chosen from the overflowing universe of materials that constituted his Stuttgart period, Dieter Roth's 'Ein gerissener Hase (A Slain Rabbit)' and 'Bar Nr. 0' represent two stations in a life that was deeply intertwined with and inseparable from art. The former is a 25-part serigraph series printed with Frank Kicherer in 1990; the latter a complex work extended and restored months before the artist's death in 1998. Minimal shelf wear.

Book
Hardcover. Condition: Used - Very Good. From Jessica Stockholder's subversive meditation on the suburban home, to Chris Burden's quasi-legal 'small skyscraper,' to Barbara Bloom's dislocating architecture (unfeasible, save through future technologies), to Kevin Appel's ambivalent homage to modernism, 'Trespassing: Houses x Artists' breaks through the conceptual boundaries that have historically divided art and architecture to describe new strategies of conceiving private space. In their individual collaborations with architects Alan Koch and Linda Taalman of OpenOffice, nine contemporary artists radically reinvent how domestic space is created and inhabited. The resulting works are open-ended, representing a rigorous new approach to visualizing form rather than a final product or conceptual destination. Artwork by Kevin Appel, Barbara Bloom, Jim Isermann, T. Kelly Mason, Renee Petropoulos, Chris Burden, Julian Opie, David Reed, Jessica Stockholder. Edited by Peter Noever, Peter Noever. Text by Cara Mullio, L. D. Riehle, Kathleen Harleman. Very nice clean, tight copy free of any marks.

Most people associate her with close up flower painting, with images of format~filling totem~like animal skulls, and with the mythic figure of the artist herself as depicted in photographs by Alfred Steglitz. This mongraph on Georgia O'Keefe encourages a more intensive encoutner with her work: idiosyncratic paintings characterized by a state of suspension. Her bold picture conceptions and spatial designs are balanced between image and abstraction, between close~up and monumentality, nature representation and artificiality. Georgia O'Keefe absorbed various infulences early in her career~European and Amerian Modernism, for instance, and later those of native cultures~but from the very beginning, her tonal appication of pigment and her photographic manner of compostiion served to distinguish her from the European tradition, leading her to stylizations which are even called "pre~Pop.".

Trade Paperback. Condition: Used - Very Good. Dedicated to the blind spots of globalization, to those mental and geographic barriers beyond which access to and participation in global networking--and the cultural and societal models that come with it--are not feasible, not allowed, or simply not wanted, the catalog for Ars Electronica 2002, the Festival for the Arts, Technology, and Society, features selected texts and exemplary projects pinpointing the vehemence with which the political momentum of art has returned to the agendas of intellectual discourse and the practice of art itself. Text by Iba Ndiaye Diadji, Birama Diallo, Peter Fend, Lisa Goldman, Joichi Ito, Mike Jensen, Michel Mavros, Phillippe Quaau, Saskia Sassen, Jennifer Sibanda, Oumou Sy, Oliviero Toscani, Aminata Traora, Hou Hanru.
