Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. LANKA WILL BURN. DARKNESS WILL PERISH. BUT CAN LIGHT ENDURE? INDIA, 3400 BCE. Greed. Rage. Grief. Love. Smouldering tinder, waiting to trigger a war. But this war is different. This one is for Dharma. This war is for the greatest Goddess of them all. Sita has been kidnapped. Defiantly, she dares Raavan to kill her - she'd rather die than allow Ram to surrender. Ram is beside himself with grief and rage. He prepares for war. Fury is his fuel. Calm focus, his guide. Raavan thought he was invincible. He thought he'd negotiate and force a surrender. Little did he know . The first three books of the second-fastest-selling book series in Indian publishing history - the Ram Chandra Series - explore the individual journeys of Ram, Sita and Raavan. In this, the epic fourth book of the series, their narrative strands crash into each other, and explode in a slaughterous war. Will Ram defeat the ruthless and fiendish Raavan, constrained as he is by the laws of Dharma? Will Lanka burn to a cinder or fight back like a cornered tiger? Will the terrible costs of war be worth the victory? Most importantly, will the Vishnu rise? And will the real enemies of the land fear the Vishnu? For fear is the mother of love. In this warm, wise book, Prem Rawat teaches us how to turn down the noise to "hear ourselves". Once we learn to truly "hear ourselves" and the voice of peace within, then we can hold that within us as we face all the noise of the world. The culmination of a lifetime of study, Swayam Ki Awaaz lays out the crucial steps we can use to focus on the voice within. With one straightforward yet deeply profound question, Prem Rawat helps us to focus, to be present: Am I conscious of where I am today and what I want to experience in this world? Packed with powerful insights and compelling stories, Swayam ki Awaaz introduces readers to an ancient line of practical wisdom that enlightens us to a simple way to listen. By doing so, Prem Rawat reveals, we can "profoundly change our understanding of ourselves, those around us, and our lives. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The trajectories of Arvind and Arbaaz, both 'businessmen' of a kind whose lives are unwillingly intertwined, ricochet off one another while they play out their sinister and murderous plots of personal and professional one-upmanship, all the while breaking every rule in the book. Both are unaware that what they seek and fight over is the very obstacle in realising an ancient secret that dates back to a time long forgotten. And yet, at the heart of it all, there lies tenderness. and pathos. and blood. and rare moments of almost exalted happiness. So, can it be that a man is both sinner and saint, victor and victim, black and white?Ashwin Sanghi, master storyteller, and spinner of yarns weave together threads of the past and present, fact and fiction, history and mythology, business and politics, love and hatred while dangling you ceaselessly over the cliff with this chilling multi-layered narrative, keeping you guessing till a totally unguessable end. And you're left wondering whether it's a matter of faith. or fate? Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition; Second Printing. Book and dustjacket show some edgewear, remainder mark bottom page edges ; Red satin bookmark bound in. A bright, solid book, dust jacket in Mylar jacket protector. ; 9.13 X 6.22 X 1.18 inches; 363 pages; A perceptive study of the remarkable phenomenon of dynastic rule, and a fascinating account of the Indian subcontinent's social and political history during the second half of the twentieth century. The durability and unrivalled dominance of India's Nehru-Gandhi dynasty mean that it has long commanded the world's attention, and guaranteed its place in history. However, it is not the only dynasty within India, let alone the neighbouring countries of South Asia and beyond. Indeed, there is a large number of clans striding the political stage in the region -- the Senanayakes and the Bandarnaikes were entrenched in Sri Lanka well before Indira Gandhi first became India's prime minister in 1966, and the Bhuttos of Pakistan have left their imprint on the country, now once again under military rule with a civilian facade. In Bangladesh, politics revolve round two competing dynasties, one led by Sheikh Hasina, the orphaned daughter of the new nation's founder-president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the other by Khaleda Zia, the widow of General Ziaur Rahman, its first military ruler. The many books on the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty have concentrated almost exclusively on the life stories of Jawaharlal Nehru, his daughter Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv Gandhi who, between them, ruled the country for thirty-seven of the first forty-two years since independence. But none has tried to explain why the dynastic dispensation has taken such firm root in this part of the world or why people vote for dynastic leaders time and again. The question of whether the dynastic phenomenon is a passing phase or whether the dynasties are here to stay also remains unanswered. Inder Malhotra's book fills this gap and does so with objectivity and sensitivity. He puts the rise of dynasties in the newly independent countries of South Asia in historical perspective, and analyses why, in the Asian milieu, democratically-elected dynasties are likely to last much longer than they did in the West.
