Cloth. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Hardback. First Edition. Round the Next Corner. Previous owners name and date written neatly to inside cover. Slightly sunned spine. Red cloth with gilt lettering. With a Foreword by Paul Scofield. This book is a full-length life story and is intended for a wider and more general circle of readers. It is not just an actor's reminiscences, although I was an actor and nothing else for many years. But being never in my heart entrirely committed to that life, I gave it up for good at a critical peak in my progress, just at the point when I believe I had discovered that incommunicable secret of relaxation in the art of acting which is every player's aim. Part II of this book is account of the things that happened to me after I left the stage in 1954. It tells of the secondary vocations and the many surprises I found waiting for me round the corners. Illustrated. 190 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.).

Boards. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. Translated by Rory Mulholland. Chatres, 1145. Ten years earlier, a fire, believed to be deliberate, destroyed the town and the culprit has still not been traced. The Chevalier Galeran de Lesnevan, summoned by the Count of Blois to investigate a new mystery, uses the opportunity to visit his friend Audouard, a master glazier, in Chartes on the way. When a murdered body is discovered in the river, a series of events leads Galeran to believe that the perpetrator of the fire ten years before is still at large in the area. While hundreds of master craftsmen, artisans and workers painstakingly rebuild the cathedral for the glory of God, he lives among them in an attempt to solve the mystery. He is drawn into the life of the town and becomes enchanted by the enigmatic young woman, Dame Ausanne, the local physician. Through the noise and activity of medieval France that it evokes, Blue Blood is a compelling and atmospheric story of bloody revenge.(We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.).

Ira Wolfert (November 1, 1908 - November 24, 1997) was an American Pulitzer Prize-winning war correspondent and writer. In 1930, he graduated from the Columbia University School of Journalism with a bachelor's degree. In 1941, he was aboard the Surcouf when it helped to liberate Saint Pierre and Miquelon. His series of articles about the November 1942 Naval Battle of Guadalcanal won him the Pulitzer Prize for Telegraphic Reporting. In 1944, Wolfert co-wrote One man Air Force with Captain Don Gentile, a leading fighter ace. The book is an autobiography of Gentile and details his exploits as a fighter pilot flying P-51 Mustangs with the Eighth Air Force. He wrote non-fiction, including the 1943 bestselling eyewitness account Battle for the Solomons and the 1945 American Guerrilla in the Philippines, which recounts the exploits of Navy officer Iliff David Richardson and was made into a 1950 film, starring Tyrone Power. The riveting story of Iliff David Richardson, a young man from Los Angeles, who enlisted in the Navy and went out to the Philippines about a year before the start of World War II, as an officer on the U.S.S. Bittern, a mine sweeper. He then transferred to the famous "expendable" motor torpedo boat Squadron 3, commanded by John D. Bulkeley, and fought these boats until they were shot out from under him. When Corregidor fell and the last torpedo boat was sunk, Richardson declined to include himself out of the war. This book is the story of what happened to him afterwards, when he involved himself in the guerrilla movement on Leyte, worked up to chief of staff to Col. Ruperto Kangleon, and ultimately became primarily responsible for the radio network which was General MacArthur's light back to Leyte. Presumed First U. K. Edition, First printing.
