Condition: new. (Paperback, 2012). 2012 1st edition - paperback issue. 8vo (158 x 233mm). Pp240. Colour and b/w photographs. Fine new copy. "Chris started fishing as a young lad at Keston Fish Ponds, where he learned his angling skills by catching roach, rudd, perch, tench and pike. He was determined to catch one of the large carp he saw and soon crossed paths with two seasoned carp fishers, Steve Edwards and Ken Rowley, who saw in him the burning ambition to catch a Keston carp. They took him under their wings and set him on a path towards a lifetime of carp fishing. He became the youngest person ever to join the British Carp Study Group, enabling him to join Ashlea Pool in 1970 with Ken Rowley. Since those days he has gone on to catch a number of carp in excess of 40lb. This by using his own tried and tested rigs and bait - detailing these, and the reasons for using them, in this book." Tales from a short session carp angler that cover waters such as Ashlea Pool, Redmire, Crayfish Pool, Yateley, Horton, Wraysbury, Dorchester Lagoon and more. For around twenty-five years, Chris ran a successful bait company and so a great deal of the book concerns the effectiveness of certain flavours, ingredients and other aspects of boilies and boilie making. With a foreword by Lee Jackson and a preface by Tony Tappenden. .

(Hardcover, 2012 ). 2012 1st edition. 8vo (162 x 240mm). Pp304. Sepia and b/w photographs, silk marker ribbon. Brown boards, decorated in gilt. Edition limited to 550 numbered copies. Near fine copy in very slightly used dust-wrapper, signed by the author. Edition limited to 550 copies. ANGLING is a series of articles written by Dave Steuart for Angling Magazine from 1967 until 1977. At the time he was also running a busy tackle shop. The chosen episodes are nearly all of coarse fishing although Dave wrote many articles on sea and game fishing at the time. "Once you start reading this book you will realise Dave was far ahead of his time not only with the rods he made but with rigs and methods he used to tremendous success. Today's anglers have much to thank him for. When you consider he was only able to fish on one day per week except for holidays makes this even more remarkable. The articles are packed with valuable tips and ideas on how to read the many waters he fished that wouldalso be viable today. He is a master at long-trotting with a centre pin reel and his prolific catches of barbel, chub, carp and pike would be difficult to surpass with our latter day knowledge and tackle. What also comes across in the book is Dave's impish sense of humour from which a number of well known anglers have been, at times, heckled (in print). Dave was also outspoken in his writings on the subject of dredging and so called improvements to some of our best Southern rivers and through these articles was invited to discuss the problems with the relevant authorities - often too late. This at a time when there were few other bodies to fight the angler's case. The book is full of historical photographs taken at the time by his late wife Kay - also an exceptional angler who often surpassed Dave in catches and personal bests." With introductory material by John Roberts and Brian Harris. The dust-wrapper illustration is by John Searl. .

(Hardcover, 2013). 2013 1st edition. 4to (210 x 260mm). Pp180. Colour photographs throughout, b/w illustrations by John Grant, edited & designed by Mike Starkey. White boards, black motif to upper board, spine titled in black and white. Fine in dust-wrapper. Numbered copy, signed on the title-page by the author. Hardback edition limited to 450 copies only. This is a copy of the hardback edition that was limited to only 450 numbered copies. It sold out quickly after publication. "Carp Addiction is a book about a man who has been obsessed with carp fishing since his boyhood, where fortunately he was mentored by a couple of experts at the lakes he fished, with whom he still remains friends today. It was not long before he was catching a few larger fish and moving on to better waters. Since those early years on Horton Kirby he has gone on to fish such places as: Walthamstow, Redmire, Sutton, The Manor, Korda, Birch Grove, amongst others, and has fished several places in France. He has also fished in Canada. His statistics speak volumes - eleven UK forties including a personal best mirror at over 47lb and two different commons over 40lbs. His French personal bests are a common of over 72lb and a mirror of over 60lb. He was voted 'Carp Angler of the Year' in 2006 and is proud to be a member of the British Carp Study Group, in which he was enrolled some twelve years ago. Unlike many successful carp anglers of today, he works full time and has only ever been able to fish weekends, evenings and holidays but his 'addiction' to catching carp has never diminished in the thirty or so years he has followed his passion." .

"Steve sadly lost his fight with cancer last year and many of his friends and fishing companions have joined together to write this book in his memory." Part of the specimen hunting scene since the early sixties, Steve was out there catching massive fish before most of us were born. This limited edition, published in 2013, was never offered for sale to the general public and instead just shown to a handful of collectors. "This fascinating book traces the life story of a carp from conception until it reaches record size, recounting the numerous adventures and discoveries made by the fish as it moves round the dark, quiet lake in which it lives. Running parallel with the carp's development is the story of a young angler, who watched the exciting spawning of the carp, and who spends much of his time observing and trying to catch Cypry, the shoal leader conceived that day. The history of the lake is carefully woven into the story, along with detailed descriptions of the activities of many other creatures which exist in and around the beautiful stretch of water. The author has been a carp angler for 40 years, has fished more than 100 carp lakes and caught 3000 carp to 30lbs. His thousands of hours fishing for the species all over the country have given him a unique opportunity for nature observations, and he has written four other books on carp and carp fishing. This book, however, is not primarily about fishing, but is a story of the countryside and its wild inhabitants, in all moods and weathers. It makes absorbing reading for lovers of nature and wild creatures whether they are anglers or not." .
