Noch immer ranken sich um die Probenarbeit des peniblen und detailversessenen Kapellmeisters viele - und nicht durchweg schmeichelhafte Anekdoten. Dieses gewissenhafte bis überkorrekte Arbeitsethos, hier zu sehen bei den Proben und der Aufführung von Don Juan, war Böhm bei der Erarbeitung der Notentexte von Richard Strauss geradezu heilig, denn dieser saß dem jungen Dirigenten bei den (Ur)Aufführungen buchstäblich im Nacken. Der Komponist begleitete die Karriere des hochtalentierten Dirigenten und Böhm empfand die ihm erwiesene Aufmerksamkeit oder gar Freundschaft als »das größte Erlebnis meines Künstlerdaseins« und fühlte sich als konkurrenzlos authentischer Strauss-Interpret. 0 pp. Deutsch.

Pancrace Bessa (1772-1846), peintre français, élève de Spaendonck et de Pierre-Joseph Redouté. Avec ce dernier, Bessa s'emploie, à la demande de l'impératrice Joséphine, à décrire les plantes rares de La Malmaison. Protégé ensuite de la duchesse de Berry, il est chargé en 1823 de représenter les fleurs du Muséum d'histoire naturelle. Prenant part à l'illustration d'autres ouvrages botaniques comme les recueils de Duhamel du Monceau, Pancrace Bessa fait preuve d'une grande finesse dans le traitement des fleurs. Observées avec le plus grand soin, il en souligne tout à la fois la fragilité et la transparence.
