A groundbreaking series when first published in the mid nineteen seventies these collections, each of more than one hundred and twenty full page black and white photographs, give a fascinating comparison from a time when photography was in its infancy, motor vehicles were outnumbered by horse drawn carriages and the railways were bringing industry and a growth of population to major towns. Even the 'New' photographs are a revelation and an illustration of a time before the planners made their impression on town centres. This copy is in FINE condition with no reading cracks to the spine. There are no inscriptions, markings or marginalia. There is some mild sunning to the laminated jacket. This is just one of a number of 'Old and New' guides that I am selling on this site. Ref O5.
