Anne Olivia Crookshank (1927-2016), born in Northern Ireland, was a pioneering Irish art historian. After her studies in history at Trinity College Dublin, she gained her first employment at the Tate Gallery and then took up a position at the Courtauld Institute's Will Library in London before her appointment as Keeper of Art at the Belfast Museum and Gallery (now the Ulster Museum) (1957-1966). Active member of the Irish Georgian Society for more than fifty years, she established in 1966 Ireland's firt Art History Faculty at Trinity College in Dublin.
