White blocked blue boards, in a dustwrapper which is showing slight wear and which has a little rubbing on a small part of a fold. The book itself is in good condition, but with a bit of a lean where it has not been carefully shelved. Unpackaged weight 2.5 kilos, so overseas shipping will require extra postage. Stapleton, 1747-1801, was the most skilled stuccodor working in the neoclassical style that dominated Dublin interior decoration in the final decades of the eighteenth century. This is the first full-length study of his work, and publishes for the first time the collection of drawings from his workshop which are now held in the National Library in Dublin.

Now owned by John Collison of Stripe, Abbeyleix House is an Irish country house that was the residence of the Viscounts de Vesci in County Laois, Ireland. It was designed by architect James Wyatt and built by Sir William Chambers in 1773. The de Vesci family lived at Abbeyleix House until it was sold in the mid-1990s to Welsh businessman Sir David Davies. A particularly scarce book that only appears for sale or auction two or three times per year. This copy is in fine condition in green cloth covered boards with gilt lettering to spine. No edge wear. Corners perfect. Internally clean and bright. Binding tight. No pen marks or inscriptions. Not ex-lib. Profusely and beautifully illustrated throughout. Unclipped dust jacket has a few minor scrapes when tilted towards the light. The gilt on the dust jacket spine has tarnished at the bottom of the letters Y L and E. Whether this is a printing imperfection or a rubbing is not clear. There are no cuts tears chips dents or bumps. Please examine all seller photos. More available upon request.
