Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Limited Edition. No. 73 of 125 copies on white laid Buckeye Text paper in Intertype Baskerville and Regal type for private distribution. x, 34pp; 8vo; brown cloth lettered in pink. Nice frontispiece "We Fought Bears with Bulls" reproduced from a linoleum block cut by Louie Romiti. The beginning of the Nugget Press was in 1939 with its first publication, a translation from the German, of Heinrich Lienhard's "I Knew Sutter." This, the third publication of the press continues the tradition of having some student group write, print, bind, and copyright at least one book each year. The result is this beautifully produced little volume, with both the original Spanish and facing English. According to the forward, Enrique Cerruti was employed by H. H. Bancroft as a history hunter, who faithfully recorded this narrative of Spanish California seen through the eyes of the Californianos.
