The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King, and The Silmarillion, Taiwan Editions, in a Custom Black Leather Slipcase. A wonderful and scarce collection of Tolkien's books, the Taiwan Editions, featuring The Hobbit a 1st impression published in February 1972, The Lord of the Rings are all 4th impression's published January 1976, and The Silmarillion is a 1st impression of November 1977 by the Bookcase Shop Ltd, Taipei. The books were printed with permission of Allen & Unwin. The front panel on The Fellowship dustjacket is mis printed with The Return of the King panel, though the spine correctly indicates The Fellowship of the Ring. An unusual five volume hardback set, matched in size and format. None are price clipped, but only The Fellowship and The Silmarillion have a price on their dustjackets. The top edges of the books are slightly dusty, otherwise a bright set of this classic of fantasy literature. The dustjackets all show rubbing along with a few closed tears, and a few chips with minor loss to the top of the spine and edges, remarkably clean and bright colors. The Hobbit's bright green is fading to a more blueish color, while the red lettering on The Silmarillion is also slightly faded. These are Very Good Plus books in Very Good Plus dustjackets. The books are all in the original light tan cloth with original dustjackets. The tan cloth boards have no gilt stamping except to the spine on each book. The Hobbit has a Goodwill price sticker on the first free endpaper, and an ink marked price to the rear free endpaper. The Silmarillion has a small Taipei Booksellers stick to the rear free endpaper. None of the other books have any writing, names, or dates, shows offsetting to the white endpapers and the reverse side of the dustjackets. Original maps are attached at the rear of the 3 Lord of the Rings and Silmarillion books, where the Hobbit has its maps bound into the textblock instead of as endpapers. A custom black leather slipcase stamped with Tolkien designs, is furnished to house this lovely collection. A significant and highly collectable set of this sought after edition. Also the back pastedown of the Hobbit has the lower corner peeled off, one of the photos show the minor damage.
