Hardcover. Condition: gut. 1998. Dieses Buch ist nach meinem Wissensstand das einzig psychologisch fundierte Werk über Kundalini Yoga und die damit verbundene Chakrenlehre. Da es von einem westlich denkenden Psychologen erklärt wird, hat es mir persönlich sehr zum Verständnis der yogischen Lehre geholfen. C. G. Jung war Schüler von Sigmund Freud und einer der Wegbereiter der modernen Psychologie. Im Zentrum seiner Lehre steht neben den Archetypen der Individuationsprozess des Menschen, in welchem der Mensch (grob gesagt) verschiedene Entwicklungsstufen durchmacht, mit dem Ziel GANZ zu werden. Diese Lehre weicht in vielerlei Hinsicht z.B. von der Neurosenlehre Freuds ab und hat eher Parallelen mit östlichen Philosophien. Und genau hier setzt dieses Buch an. Jung vergleicht seine Lehre von den Entwicklungsstufen des Menschen mit den yogischen Vorstellungen der verschiedenen Bewusstseinsebenen, die sich in der Chakrenlehre ausdrücken. Ausserdem findet er viele Parallelen zu seiner Archetypenlehre in der reichhaltigen Symbolik der yogischen Philosophie. Er unterscheidet dabei auch immer zwischen der östlichen Sicht und der westlichen und warnt davor, diese voreilig zu vermischen. Um so besser ist es ihm gelungen, die östliche Philosophie in unseren westlichen Kontext zu stellen. Das Buch wurde nicht direkt von C. G. Jung geschrieben, sondern besteht zum einen aus Transkripten seiner Seminare, zum anderen aus der Einführung des Herausgebers und ergänzenden Anhängen. Die Seminare wurden 1932 abgehalten, zu einer Zeit, in der die östlichen Philosophien erstmals besser zugänglich gemacht wurden und auch psychologisches Interesse weckten (z. B. die deutsche Übersetzung des "I Ging" von Richard Wilhelm). Das Buch hat in der heutigen Zeit die gleiche Aktualität wie damals. Denn unter all der Literatur aus dem esoterischen Bereich (welche ich teilweise auch sehr schätze), gibt es selten ein solch psychologisch fundiertes und aufschlussreiches Buch über die yogische Philosophie. Der Leser erfährt viel über die Herkunft des Yoga, Tantrismus, die Chakrenlehre, und über geschichtliche Hintergründe der westlichen Erforschung der östlichen Philosophie (mit hilfreichen Literaturverweisen und Anmerkungen). Die Transkripte seiner Seminare sind sehr lebendig und faszinierend, aber auch sehr konzentriert und daher nicht für eine leichte Lektüre geeignet. Es ist ein Buch, das man studieren muss und immer wieder als Nachschlagewerk dienen kann. Die Lektüre fällt natürlich etwas leichter, wenn man schon ein wenig mit Jungs Psychologie vertraut ist. Im Übrigen ist das Buch sehr gut verarbeitet: schön gebunden, angenehmes Papier, sehr gute Typographie. Es ist zwar etwas teuer, aber meiner Meinung nach sein Geld wert. FAZIT: ein fundiertes, reichhaltiges Buch für alle, die sich ernsthaft für Yoga und Psychologie interessieren. Carl Gustav Jung wurde am 26. Juli 1875 in Kesswil in der Schweiz geboren. Er studierte Medizin und arbeitete von 1900 bis 1909 an der psychiatrischen Klinik der Universität Zürich (Burghölzli). 1905 bis 1913 war er Dozent an der Universität Zürich, 1933 bis 1942 Titularprofessor an der ETH und 1943 Ordentlicher Professor für Psychologie in Basel. Jung gehört mit Sigmund Freud und Alfred Adler zu den drei Wegbereitern der modernen Tiefenpsychologie. Er entwickelte nach der Trennung von Sigmund Freud (1913) die eigene Schule der Analytischen Psychologie. C. G. Jung starb am 6. Juni 1961 in Küsnacht.
