The author brings together a collection of 16 interviews with seafarers who follow the sea, either as merchant sailors, navel personnel, recreational or deep sea yachties, restorers of vintage vessels or expert model makes of large scale ships. Some on NZ's first women professional seafarers are included, as are historic flash-backs to WWII experiences, shipwrecks or exploration and life aboard the Lake Whakatipu steamer Earnslaw, still going strong after almost 100 years of fresh water steaming. In this fine book Roy Sinclair seems not to have missed any aspect of seagoing and provides a really good read. First edition of 1999, 269 pages including bibliography, b/w photos throughout, some art etc. Colour pictorial DJ is VG+ with tiny bump lower front corner, internally excellent no inscriptions.
