Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. This 6.5 x 9.5, 254 page book is in near fine condition. Apparently this title was issued without a dust jacket. Arthur Clark's standard bright red cloth covering is in beautiful condition with just the most minor touch of whitening to all four corners and the spine crown and foot, but this may not even be a result of wear. The corners are sharp and firm. The interior shows some penciled markings on the ffep but beyond that the text is in fine condition. The book features a number of pictures which are all present. Smith was a early western trapper and spent much time with the Plains Indians. His chapter on the Sand Creek Incident is superb, and Col. Chivington sheds light on that famous event in White - Indian relations. Smith knew many of the famous personalities on the plains and they are a part of his story. Although the condition and desire for this book suggests a higher price, we wish to offer it at a lower cost as an honest bargain to today's collector. 254 pages.
