He graduated from Indiana University in 1950 and attended Northwestern University Medical School. Warden did his residency in Radiology at the University of Colorado Denver. His poems have been published in numerous magazines including Blue Unicorn, Ibbetson Street, Iconoclast, Pearl, Presa, and Verse Wisconsin. He also published and edited many more poems that are parts of compiled works. His first collection of poetry, Beyond the Straits, published in 1980, is part of the canon of Los Angeles poetry between 1945 and 2000. His poems can be philosophical, are often autobiographical, include many with themes of Southwestern Pueblos, and regularly express his love for his wife. He was a family man, fisherman, and poet.
