In-4, 290x225mm (11½"x9"). French language. A fine edition for bibliophiles. Limited to 205 copies, this No. IX of 15 examples numbered I to XV. En feuilles (loose leaf). pp(4)/(8)II(2)103(5)/4 with 33 wood engravings - 8 full-page, 18 approximately half-page, a single headpiece, and six tailpieces. In addition, duplicates of all engravings in a suite of 33 plates. Each of the two sections in thick cream paper wrappers; wrappers of section containing text titled in black, wrappers of suite of engravings not titled. Both sections contained together in sturdy pale pink paper-covered card folder with spine titled etc in black, within sturdy pale blue paper-covered card slipcase. Spine of folder a little age-toned or sunned and now of a creamy tint, slightly rubbed & nicked at corners, and with two minor dampstains shared with front hinge. One of these stains very faint along 60mm of hinge - the lower 35mm narrow, the upper 25 mm bulging up to 15mm into spine and within which paper covering slightly lifted - with tan rims across hinge at stain's upper and lower extremites, and along spine side of narrow section; the other stain tan-rimmed and bulging up to 6mm into spine along 30mm of hinge from just above foot. Effects of stains on appearance minimal, and title etc unaffected. Slipcase with a few minor handling marks. One side panel also faintly toned within short distance of open end, with a few small patches and spots of very shallow lifting of paper covering towards open end, and two near-closed splits of lengths 20mm and 35mm from corners of open end along upper and lower edges respectively. The other side panel with hardly visible stain - associated with those on folder - of width up to 10mm along 45mm of faintly toned open end. Folder and slipcase in very good condition; and apart from occasional faint offsetting from engravings in section containing text, contents in fine condition. VERY GOOD+ copy / très bon état.
