Hardcover. Condition: Very Good-. A very good minus Library Binding Everyman's Library hardcover without dustwrapper, in clean brown cloth covered boards with sharp rubbed corners. The leather backstrip with dulled gilt lettering is rubbed and rubbed/bumped to the ends, with loss of the spine head and headband. Internally near fine and tightly bound, no writing or stamps, unmarked pages free of foxing and tinted brown to the text-block edges. The damage to the spine head is the only real flaw in this otherwise excellent copy. Carefully packaged and despatched within 48 hours from our wee bookshop in Scotland.; 60x40.

A later edition in a full calf prize binding, with gilt detailing to the spine and the gilt crest of St Peter's College, Radley, to the boards. Marbled edges and end papers. Prize bookplate of St Peter's College, Radley, to the front paste down, dated 1916. Bookplate of T. U. Cooper to the front free end paper. Illustrated with a frontispiece and three maps, two of which are folding. Collated, complete. This biography of John Nicholson, a soldier and administrator, is based on private documents by Captain Lionel J. Trotter. John Nicholson or 'The Heroic Nicholson was an Anglo-Irish officer in the British Army who rose to prominence during his career in British India and this volume discusses his life and time as a soldier and officer in India. In a full calf prize binding. Externally generally smart, though a little rubbed to the spine and rear board. Small loss to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with the odd spot throughout. Very Good. book.
