Tapa Dura. Condition: New. 2ª Edición. - Trent Parke Book, Buch, Libro, Livre, Libro. No.

First Edition
Hardcover. First Edition. Adelaide, Art Gallery of South Australia, 2015. Oblong quarto, 168 pages with numerous illustrations (from photographs, several in colour). Pictorial papered boards very slightly bumped at the corner tips; a near-fine copy. Published to accompany the exhibition of the same name held at the Art Gallery of South Australia between 14 March and 10 May 2015. This catalogue was compiled by the artist in association with curators Maria Zagala and Julie Robinson. The text accompanying the images is extracted 'from the fourteen artist's books that comprise "The Black Rose Diaries"'. '"The Black Rose" represents the culmination of seven years of work by internationally renowned Adelaide photographer Trent Parke. The catalyst for the exhibition was a tragic incident in the artists past, which has led Parke to explore universal ideas from a deeply personal perspective - birth, death, love, loss, memory and the passing of time. Between 2007 and 2014, in an attempt to reclaim memories of his childhood, Parke took thousands of photographs of his surroundings and of everyday objects and wrote down his dreams and observations in diaries' (from the exhibition website).

Buon Natale!.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. First Edition. Scarce contemporary art photography classic. First [& only] edition - Art Gallery Of South Australia, Adelaide, 2015. Published in a small print run [of reportedly 1000 copies] that sold out shortly after publication. Illustrated laminated boards [without DJ, as issued], lavishly illustrated with black-and-white and color plates; a fine copy. The culmination of seven years' work for the Adelaide-based Magnum photographer. Published alongside the landmark 2015 Art Gallery of South Australia exhibition of the same name. "The Black Rose started in 2007 as an attempt to excavate my own histories, reflecting on a night when at the age of twelve, I witnessed my mother die of an asthma attack while my Dad was at his squash night. As a result, I blanked out those first 12 years of my life, and much more. After sidestepping the issue for 27 years, a chance incident forced my hand and I began writing and taking photographs as I sought to get those memories back. Autobiographical in nature, these letters and photographs narrate the story of my life past and present, but more importantly, pose universal questions relating to our very existence. Why are we here? Where are we going, and what happens next?" [Trent Parke].

Book First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 40 pages. Published in 2010. Artist Book. One of Trent Parke's most beautiful art photography books. Limited Edition of 1000 hand-numbered copies. The first and only edition. Published as the inaugural volume of "Children's Books For Adults" by Alec Soth's Little Brown Mushroom (LBM) imprint. The Limited Edition is now rare. A brilliant production by Trent Parke and LBM: Small-size volume format. The book is patterned after classic children's books. Black hard boards with brown cloth overboards and metallic-silver titles printed on the cover, as issued. There is a circular die-cut in front and on the back. Photographs by Trent Parke. Whimsical text. Printed on glossy stock paper in the United States to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents, in a Limited Edition format, Trent Parke's "Bedknobs And Broomsticks". The artist/photographer's charming homage to the Little Golden Books For Children from the 1940's. Actually, what Parke has directly appropriated, for his own purposes, is the "Bedknobs And Broomsticks" film adaptation (1971) by Walt Disney, which conflates two classic children's books: "The Magic Bedknob, Or How To Become A Witch In Ten Easy Lessons" (1943) and "Bonfires And Broomsticks" (1945), both written by Mary Norton. "With his own fierce and inimitable photographic style, Parke takes the reader along on a magic bed of free association from Down Under" (Publisher's blurb). Trent Parke has put Australia on the map as a vital center of art photography, that is to say, of the most serious and ambitious contemporary art itself, which has become more, not less, photographically-based. An absolute "must-have" title for Trent Parke collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition of 1000 copies, indicated/hand-numbered as such, on the Front Limitation Page. Although not called for, it is very boldly and beautifully signed in gold pen-marker on the Inside Back Cover by Trent Parke. It is signed directly on the board itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy of the Limited Edition available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: This Limited Edition sold out shortly after publication and was not reissued by the publisher. A rare signed copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with tritone plates. One of the most brilliant artist/photographers of our time. A fine collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER TRENT PARKE TITLE IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 0615375502. Signed by Author.
