Irving produced the play at the Lyceum Theatre in 1898, however it was not considered to be one of his successes. Irving was a noted Victorian stage actor and manager. He was the first actor to ever be awarded a knighthood in 1895.'The Medicine-Man' is an entertaining play, written by Henry Duff Traill in conjunction with Robert Hichens.The play was produced by Sir Henry Irving, and performed at the Lyceum Theatre, opening on the 4th May 1898, and running for about four weeks.Bookplate of Gerald Forsyth to the front pastedown. In the original paper wraps. Externally, the front wrap is detached but present. Edgwear to the wraps has resulted in some chipping, heavier to the front wrap, and a small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Light discolouration to the wraps and spine.
