Some friendly criticisms having induced him to reflect on what he had written, he saw, as will generally happen in such cases, that were he to go over the ground again, he would find much that lie would desire to alter, and many things that might be added. He therefore resolved to recast the whole and expand it to the compass of a thin volume. The thin volume, however, fattened as it approached maturity, until it reached the respectable dimensions in which it now awaits the appreciation of any reader who may think it worthy of his attention.
