Heavy spotting to original endpapers. Light spotting to index and title otherwise clean. i-li, 2 pages glossary, pp186, 92 plates, 90 of which are coloured. Complete.Boards secure and binding solid. This copy belonged to renowned naturalist John Richard Beech Masefield (1850-1932) who has made copious pencil margin notes in this book. His greatest legacy was probably the Hawksmoor Nature Reserve opened in 1933 The book has a few dried specimens within. Also comes with a letter written to the owner from Bertram Clifford shortly before his death and ephemera from Cheadle where he died. Overall a solid good copy. 1.8kg packed.
