First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. First editions. Tall octavo. 180, 247, 154, 54pp. With many illustrations. Four volumes bound without wrappers into black library buckram with spine gilt. Margins trimmed (with no loss of text), first title page with a couple of library marks, still a fine copy. The volumes on North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida are general histories of education, and the volume on South Carolina is a history of higher education in the state. The volumes on North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia contain chapters on the education of African-Americans in those states. The volume on Florida contains a subchapter on the history of the education of freemen in Florida. A bright, clean, nicely preserved volume, collecting extensive U.S. Government histories of education from four states, with a good amount of information on the education of African-Americans.
