This book is an attempt by amateur writers to record the descendants of Johann Single born March 15, 1864 in Austria. It is recorded in story form for his living descendants to enjoy and future generations to read and treasure also to understand the conditions and ways of life in their ancestors times. Included in this book is information on Johann's two sisters, Christine and Katharine; his stepmother Marie Katherina Single (nee Bauer) and her family as far they were able to give us details. Those who have compiled this booklet feel it has been a labor of love and hope. that it may be treasured and enjoyed by its readers, especially those who are direct and indirect descendants of the Single family. The occasion for writing this book was the fact that Fred and Anne Single were observing their 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 5, 1980. It was felt by many members of the family that this would be a good time to have a Single Family Reunion the following day on July 6, 1980. The accounts given in this book are as received from all those individuals who were good enough to take time to record their families' history. If there may appear some conflict in dates or incidents please note it is being recorded as we received it and this happens because people differ in remembering the past.
