Handsome, well-preserved guide to the wonders of London, profusely illustrated with duotone engravings comprising full-page plates & a frontispiece Joseph Pennell. In 176 pages, sewn binding, deckled page edges. Tissue overlay to frontispiece is heavily tanned, but completely intact. A First Edition from 1924, this hardcover book has a deep blue cloth binding decorated with a gilt coat of arms ("Domine Dirige Nos") to front board & gilt lettering to spine. Condition is solidly VG: very clean, binding strong & straight, pages moderately tanned, heavier around all edges, commensurate with age. Old store sticker from Brentanos, Paris, inside rear cover.Flaws: modest corner bumping, rubbing to extremities. Worst flaw is heavy tanning to endpapers (as if newspaper clippings had been laid in, a few foxed spots to title page. No DJ, likely as issued. Good was the author of "Best Addresses" and won Washingtonian magazine's prestigious Washingtonian of the Year award. Light penciling on front attached endpaper. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece of large buildings and many small figures titled "Classic London". Title page is dated 1926. No date on copyright page. 176 pages. 55 illustrations by Joseph Pennell. Interiors are clean and unmarked. A very good copy.
