Manuscript / Paper Collectible
Agency script for the 1985 film. Script issued by the The Brillstein Company, with their generic wrapper. The Brillstein Company was originally a hybrid company that specialized in talent management (as is the case here, i.e., an agency for actors, writers, etc.) and television development ("Hee Haw," "The Muppet Show," and "Saturday Night Live"). In 1986, the year after "The Sure Thing" was released, The Brillstein Company became The Brillstein Group, an entity solely devoted to television development, well known for edgy comedy television ("ALF," "Buffalo Bill," "The Slap Maxwell Story," "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd," and most famously, "It's Garry Shandling's Show"). Two very opposite college students make a cross-country road trip and start to warm up to each other. Set in New England and California, shot on location in California and at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Generic agency wrappers. Title page present, dated February 14, 1984, with credits for screenwriters Steven L. Bloom and Jonathan Roberts. 122 leaves, with last page of text numbered 118. Xerographic duplication with copied holes as issued, rectos only, with revision pages throughout, dated variously between 2/17/84 and 2/24/84. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound internally with three gold brads.
