Stepniak's views had evolved from advocating violence toward peaceful agitation to achieve political reform. Second edition. Both volumed bumped and rubbed with wear and fraying at the corners and spine ends, a couple of drip marks on the rear board of volume 1. Spines cocked, binding a bit loose.

The spine has a leather label and five raised bands & is densely tooled in gilt. This copy was used as a sample of Mr Dickens bookbinding skill & was purchased by us directly from the bookbinders grandson in its original book cabinet.

The publishers also list part two of Underground Russia in this list: ?????? ??? ????? ???????i??????? (Sketches from life, or Sketches from the lives of revolutionaries). We were unable to locate any copy outside of Russia or Ukraine.
